Payless ShoeSource has announced that designer Silvia Tcherassi will be debuting a discount designer shoes line with the retailer this May. Tcherassi is know for creating luxurious ready-to-wear apparel and bridal gowns, but this will be her first foray into shoe design. Her new line will feature coordinating shoes and handbags, and will be priced between $40 and $70. The line is scheduled to hit shelves twice per year over the next two years for the spring and fall seasons.

Ms. Tcherassi said she is thrilled to be working with Payless, and sees it as a great opportunity to create shoes and handbags that complement her current fashion collections. For the Spring/Summer season her shoe designs will include all of the important silhouettes like wedges, flats, strappy heels and thong sandals featuring key trend details like bright color-blocking, mesh uppers and satin ribbon details.
